Mr. Fix-It has been a long time in the making.
I started building decks, patios and tackling repair projects for friends and friends of friends many years ago, usually after work or on weekends. In those days, I was often paid in tools instead of money. Once I was even paid with a video camera for building a deck.
Then, after I received a reciprocating saw for building a deck for a friend, my wife grabbed me by the collar and said, “Listen up, Mr. Fix-It. Your next free job is going to be building a patio cover for me — and your prices are going to be adjusted.”
And that is how Mr. Fix-It was born.
For years, the work continued after hours and on weekends, almost entirely through word-of-mouth referrals. Eventually, after more than 25 years in the corporate world, I decided it was time to make Mr. Fix-It my full-time business.
Today, Mr. Fix-It provides home repairs, remodeling and improvement services throughout Lewisville, Flower Mound, Highland Village and Lake Dallas. Projects range from everyday repairs and handyman work to larger remodeling and renovation projects.
Mr. Fix-It is not a franchise, and I don't operate a large company with anonymous crews. I own the business, personally work on and manage my projects, and my name and reputation are attached to the work we perform.
Many projects involve more than one trade. When specialized work, permits or licensed trades are required, I coordinate with qualified subcontractors, including licensed plumbers and electricians when appropriate. That allows Mr. Fix-It to remain your single point of contact while making sure specialized work is handled by the proper trade professional.
My philosophy has always been pretty simple: treat people fairly, take pride in your work, do what you say you're going to do, and build relationships rather than chase one-time jobs. A large part of Mr. Fix-It's business has always come from referrals and repeat customers, and that's exactly the way I like it.
My goal isn't to complete one project for you and disappear. I want to be the person you call whenever something in your home needs to be repaired, improved, remodeled or replaced.
